Natural Ways to Counter Dry Skin

Do you have dry skin? Are you looking for ways to counter cold weather?

Winters can be really harsh on your skin. It can make your skin dry and sensitive. Leading skin care brands market their chemical laden products as the only solution to dry skin. But that’s not true – these synthetic products do more harm than good to your skin.

Stay close to nature with these face cleansers.

  1. Mix one tablespoon honey, half tablespoon orange juice and quarter tablespoon olive oil. Mix well and apply on the face. Wash off with lukewarm water after 10 minutes.
  2. Bedtime Routine: Mix one tablespoon Castor Oil with one tablespoon Olive Oil. Massage well on your face for a few minutes. Soak a cotton swab in warm water and gently wipe the face with it.

If you skin feels dry, reduce the amount of castor oil and increase the amount of Olive Oil.

The castor oil helps take out dust from the skin pores Warm water will remove the excess oil as well as all this dirt.

7 Benefits of using Handmade Soaps

1. Glycerin for the Skin

Glycerin isn’t added to a handmade soap recipe – Rather it’s created during the soap making process! Glycerin is an emollient that softens by attracting moisture to your skin. It is so beneficial to your skin that it is extracted from commercial “soap” and sold separately for other pharmaceutical products. Handmade soap retains all of its natural glycerin.

2. All Natural

A typical ingredient list of our soap reads like this:

Water, Olive Oil, Castor Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil and essential oils.

However try to decipher the chemical laden list of ingredients of a commercial soap and you will have trouble  identifying even a few natural elements.

3. Superior Ingredients

Our ingredients include olive oil which is gentle and kind to the skin along with shea butter, castor oil and coconut oil to create a creamy soap bar with a lovely lather. The other ingredients too are selected based on their benefits to the skin rather than to improve just the visual characteristics of the soap bar.

4. Pure Essential Oils

The essential oils used in handmade soaps are the ones that are used in aromatherapy as well. Thus the benefits of handmade soaps do not confine themselves to cleansing and moisturizing the skin. Rather the bath itself provides the benefits of inhaling amazing essential oils which help alleviate stress and relax the body.

5. Traditional Process

Making the soap in a traditional way requires heating the oils and butters at low temperature, just enough to melt them and to start the saponification process. Commercial soap making is done at much higher temperature to remove glycerin etc for a separate use. Handmade soap is made keeping the temperatures low so as to retain the beneficial properties of the oils and butters.

6. No Artificial Colors or Synthetic Fragrances

We do not believing in adding chemical colors or synthetic fragrances just to improve the appearance of the soap, rather, we believe in selecting each ingredient based on its benefit to the skin.

7. No Detergent

Imagine putting detergents on your skin!!!

Big soap brands which call themselves “beauty bars or moisturizer bars” don’t use the word soap on the label. This is because they are actually detergents. They simply hide this piece of information with labels like “beauty bars or fairness bars”.

Get radiant skin with Glycerin

Glycerin is widely used in pharmaceutical and skin care industries because of its humectant properties. Humectants attract moisture and make the skin soft and reduce dryness.

Glycerin is produced naturally as part of soap making. Because of its high value and benefits to the skin, commercial soap makers remove this important ingredient from soap production leaving only a part in the soap. It is sold separately as input to the pharmaceutical and makeup industry.

image3344Natural, handmade soaps retain this wonderful product in the soap itself. Glycerin draws moisture up through skin layers and slows or prevents excessive drying and evaporation. These may be used (after patch testing) by people with sensitive, easily irritated skin because it prevents skin dryness with its moisturizing properties.

All my soaps are made by hand using the Cold Process method which retains the maximum benefits from the natural ingredients and pure essential oils. Visit my webpage here to find the amazing products on offer.
